Why a plugin is not always the right answer
WordPress culture reaches for a plugin for everything, but each active plugin creates a fresh dependency on the core and the theme. When one is abandoned or breaks against a new release, the problem shows up on your live site — usually on the day you have no time for it.
A chatbot does not need that dependency. The widget only has to load on the page, and its knowledge is built outside WordPress from the same pages a crawler sees. Core updates and theme changes therefore have nothing to do with whether the bot works.
